Quick answer

A 6-day Meghalaya tour from Guwahati covers Shillong, Sohra (Cherrapunji), a night at Nongriat beside the double-decker living root bridge, Mawlynnong and a riverside camp at Shnongpdeng on the Umngot. It costs from ₹26,500 per person. October to April is best, with Dawki clearest November to March.

Trip Overview

Meghalaya, the abode of clouds, compresses its best sights into six days: Umiam Lake and Shillong, the waterfalls and caves of Sohra, a night in Nongriat beside the double-decker living root bridge, Mawlynnong village and a riverside camp on the glass-clear Umngot at Dawki.

Staying overnight at Nongriat means you see the bridge at dawn, before day-trippers arrive. The hike is 3,000-plus steps each way, so moderate fitness helps, and porters can carry your bags. Add Kaziranga for two nights from November to April. The state needs no special permit.
