India is a diverse country with 29 states and 7 union territories. Different people from different places travel to different destinations throughout the year. Although there is no specific time to travel. In India, there are en-numbers of places to visit at all times of the year.

If you are a travel freak and want to make plans for the year 2021, then this is the time to make a schedule and pack your bags. Make this year as beautiful as possible by travelling to different places and exploring and experiencing new things.

1. January – Auli, Uttarakhand

If you have not planned anything for January then visit Auli to experience the Skiing festival. Auli is one of the best destinations in India for skiing and in January. Many tour operators with the collaboration of government organize a week-long ski training program that includes their stay, food, and travel.

Not only skiing but there are several other reasons to visit Auli during winters. The mountains covered in snow, 360-degree view of the Nanda Devi, trekking in the snow to Gurson Bugyal, experiencing the best sunrise and sunsets, and a possible chance to see the sun and the moon sharing the sky. The longest Gondola ride from Joshimath to Auli is a ride that one should not miss at any cause. Mouth-watering Garhwali cuisine is also an added attraction.

2. February – Rajasthan

The city of festivals, culture, and finger-licking food. Rajasthan is one such place where people are true to their tradition and culture. As everyone knows, it is the desert state of India but its magnanimous historical monuments and forts, palaces built by the kings from the olden days, huge desserts, folk art, and culture attract a large amount of tourism.

The houses and buildings of Jaipur and Jodhpur are painted in pink and blue respectively and are known as the pink city and blue city. The lakes and palace of Udaipur are some of the major places where grand weddings take place. Jaisalmer and Bikaner should be on your list to experience desert camping. A grand music festival is organized in Udaipur which is also worth attending.

Rajasthan is very cold in January, but in February the temperature is moderate to enjoy the vacation.

3. March – Andaman Islands

Sunny skies, white sand beached, blue waters, and swaying palm trees, all can be experienced in the Andaman Islands. Take a step into the crystal clear beaches in summer 2021. For those who love nature, these islands hold the pristine beaches and grandeur of the Bay of Bengal. There are several sports activities like Scuba Diving, Snorkelling, Parasailing, and Sea Walking. This island is the hub of aqua adventures.

The Elephant Beach Trek in Havelock is a must-visit place in Andaman. Other places are Neil Islands, Ross Island, Port Blair, and different Museums. A 4-5 Day trip is an ideal time to plan a vacation here and the best time to visit is during February end to March.

4. April – Sikkim

Hassle-free and warm-hearted, it is a state too easy to fall in love with. Sikkim is one of the cleanest and green states of India. It is a maze of plunging, super-steep valleys lush with subtropical woodlands, rising to the top of the Himalayas in the North. The glittering glaciers, endless pastures, waterfalls at every turn, monastery towns, and drives on the narrow roads are some of the moments one will experience and capture. The capital of the state Gangtok attracts a large number of tourists and has a lot to offer as well. The atmosphere there just gives relaxation feels.

To reach Gangtok, a cab can be hired. The roads there are steep so if you are not a pro-driver it is advised to take a cab to visit all the places. The Ravangla is a small town situated in the South Sikkim is connected by state highways and other towns and lies between Pelling and Gangtok can be visited via road. Other places to visit are Gurudongmar Lake, Nathula Pass, and Pelling.

5. May – Lakshadweep Islands

Beat the heat by spending the summer on the Island. Lakshadweep is the best place to visit if you want to enjoy the warm weather. The island is such a place where one can experience so many things like sun, sand, coral reefs, and water sports. The heat on the island attracts tourists to sports activities like Scuba Diving, Snorkelling, etc.

With the long beaches and vast stretch of greenery, Lakshadweep is a perfect place to plan a vacation for peace and serenity. Flora and fauna there are worth exploring as it has various types of species like living corals, sea urchins, seaweeds, seabirds, and various other types of fish which are very common to find here. The island is known only for its sports activities so if you plan the trip do check for different types of activities available at that moment.

6. June – Leh, Ladakh

An adventurer’s paradise. Leh is the most fascinating place to visit in India. The roads between the mountains, the crowned rocky outcrops, picturesque gompas, meditational walls, and the multi-hued flags, and many other sites just make Ladakh more beautiful. The place offers more ecological awareness to the West and has a well-balanced traditional society.

If you are a travel freak and want to explore the place on your own, then hiring a bike and traveling across is best advised. Open roads with a spectacular view will welcome you to experience the most nonchalant place. A bike trip to Leh is almost on everyone’s to-do list. There are many places to visit in Leh like Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri, Diskit Monastery, Magnetic Hill, and many others. If there lies a biker in you who wants to explore this place then June month is best recommended as the temperature would be moderate to travel.

7. July – Amarnath, Jammu & Kashmir

Amarnath Yatra starts in July and continues till August. The Shiva temple is one the most famous pilgrimage site for devotees and the Amarnath Cave temples are one of the top caves in India. The cave houses a Shiva-lingam which is made out of ice. If you are trying to get away with the summer heat and explore new places, then this is one of the places that you can plan. This is known to be the toughest pilgrimages in India.

The trek starts from Srinagar or Pahalgam and the walk is almost 35kms and it takes 3-5 days to reach the Amarnath Cave. Amarnath is not only visited for religious significance but also the majestic views of the Himalayas.

8. August – Munnar

Munnar is located in Kerala and is captured by rolling hills and decorated with tea plantations. It is the most visited tourist destinations in Kerala. Munnar is one of the best hill stations in South India. It is known for its green belt of lush forests and the never ending growth of tea plants. It houses some endangered spices like Neelkurinji and Nilgiri Tahr. The three rivers flowing in this region makes this region more popular and attracts tourism here. Its misty hills, pristine lakes, and rocky terrains have further turned it into a popular trekking place.

August to December is the best time to visit Munnar. Though Kerala is a place that can be visited at any time of the year. Munnar is one of the best to visit when the winter starts and the atmosphere becomes more pleasant. The Tea Factory, Hiking in the mountains, Elephant village at Ernakulam, Spice farm, Dams, Lakes, Echo point are some places that are a must-visit for all.

9. September – Srinagar

Indeed it is truly said, heaven on Earth. Srinagar is one of the most beautiful places in India which must be visited by all at least once in their lifetime. When we speak of Srinagar, the first thing that strikes our minds is Jammu & Kashmir and the very famous Dal Lake which is the charm of Srinagar. Scenic views of the lake can be witnessed from the shore line Mughal gardens, such as Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh. The houseboats cruising along the lake is an added attraction for tourism.

You can take a train or bus from Jammu to Srinagar, and hotel bookings can be done online. An important note for all is that only post-paid sim cards work in the state. The beautiful city is famous for its Pashmina shawls, dry fruits, lakes, and picturesque gardens.

10. October – West Bengal

Experience the best of Kolkata during Navratri, where the city is filled with the celebration of Durga Puja for nine longs days. It is the most celebrated festival in Bengal featuring colourful and innovative pandals, embellished idols of Hindu Goddess Durga, fireworks, and lightning decorations. It is often shown in movies and TV serials that women dress up in a white and red sari with a big red bindi on the forehead and pray for their family and children throughout the nine days.

With being a part of this celebration, you can also visit other attractions of the city like Victoria Memorial, Writers Building, Indian Museum, Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, and Howrah Bridge. Kolkata is also known for its food, you can also try different types of street food there.

11. November – Chikmagalur

Home to sprawling hills, stunning valleys, and snow-white coffee blossoms. It is known as the coffee district of Karnataka. It is a place full of surprises with the calm and serene town, Chikmagalur is nested in Baba Budan Hills and a trekker’s delight. This monsoon beauty is a place that one shouldn’t miss.

Chikmagalur is located 6 hours from Bangalore, it is a perfect gateway for travellers who are looking for a weekend gateway with friends or family. The places to be visited in Chikmagalur are Kudremukh National Park, Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, Baba Budangiri, Mullayangiri, Bhadra Dam, Hebbe Falls, and Coffee Museum. Choose the best resort for your stay with a mountain view from the balcony to experience the most scenic view of all times.

12. December – Rann of Kutch

Imagine a culture of music and dance on the white sand. Rann Utsav creates a mosaic of exquisiteness that reflects the identity and spirit of the region. This festival is organized for almost 3 to 4 months and attracts 1000’s of tourists across India and the World. It is a well-known backpacker’s paradise. It is a perfect place to witness the creativeness of the artisans, folk music, and mixed representation of culture and communities, specifically Kutch and its people.

The festival starts in the first week of November and goes on till the month end of February. The best time to visit the place is in December where one can witness the magical moon illumining the white landscape of the region. There are several other places to visit in Kutch like Desert Wildlife Sanctuary, Para Motoring, Riding ATV, Rifle Shooting Play Golf, etc.
