Delhi is surrounded by good weekends: the Himalaya to the north, Rajasthan to the west and the Taj to the south. The trick is choosing one that fits into two days without spending them in traffic.
1. Which Weekends Are Best for Adventure?
Rishikesh is the classic: a riverside camp at Shivpuri, 16 km of rafting and the Triveni Ghat aarti. For something quieter, take the overnight Volvo to Aut and spend two days in Jibhi's forests and on the Jalori Pass.
Adventure weekends
- Rishikesh: rafting, camping, bungee
- Jibhi and Jalori Pass: forest hikes
- Kasol: Kheerganga or Tosh village
- Bir Billing: paragliding
2. Which Weekends Are Best for Heritage?

Agra works as a long day or an overnight. Leave early, catch the Taj at sunrise the next morning and see Fatehpur Sikri on the way back (the Taj is closed on Fridays). Jaipur needs two days: one for Amber and Nahargarh, one for the City Palace and bazaars.
3. Which Hill Stations Are Easy for a Weekend?
Mussoorie (about 7 hours) and Lansdowne (about 6 hours) are the most reachable. Lansdowne is quieter, with an army-cantonment calm. Kasauli is shorter still, about 5.5 hours via Chandigarh.
